We attended the Browser Games Forum 2008 over a week ago now and written down our impressions. To give you a quick round up of the conference we’ve also edited a tiny video with impressions and topic of the conference. You can consume both over at our German blog. Time doesn’t allow us to translate the post to English right now so if you understand German just head over there and if you don’t go there, too! Most of the video should be worth a watch even muted.

That’s it for now!

Hey,

the last weeks silently passed. The sad thing is, that not only you didn’t heard anything from us, but we’re actually haven’t done anything at Trans ‘n Porter lately. The cause of all that is my descission to transfer to a college in the US next year. To achieve that goal I had to talk a lot with my university here, in Bremen. I’ve taken a semester off, the last half year, to get Trans ‘n Porter out of the door. But now I need a course of that semester and so I had to catch up this course over the last weeks. Most of this is done now, I’ve just to accomplish one more job and the catch up is perfect :) .

In addition to these efforts we’ve managed that galaxy-news.net published a nice tutorial on how to develop a MMOG with Rails, written by us. So we had to do all the development of a little demo game over the last weeks, too. But now the first article of this series is released and we’ll have some days to concentrate on the Trans ‘n Porter to-do list.

And another short announcement: If anyone of you happen to attend to the Euruko 08, this weekend in Prague, please let us know, so that we can have a beer together! Sebastian and I will be there in the late Friday night and will leave Sunday evening.

That’s it for now.

Stay tuned!

Yours,

Thorben

No, we’ve not forgotten about our blogs, even if our German blog looked a little abandoned, without any posts for the past few days :/ .

We put most of our time in the Trans ‘n Porter development at the moment and neglected things such as our blogs for too long. But we got our priorities straight now and we’ll finish the missing parts of the blog in the next days.

So long believe us, with the neglecting comes some great news! Trans ‘n Porter development does very well lately and to today we’re absolutely in schedule. Expect some more screens in the next week and a real cool project we’re doing with a well known partner in March.

Yours,
FEtMab-Team

UPDATE: They were quick! Everything is up and running, again.

Short update: In addition to the domain chaos which still continues, our hoster is doing some maintenance work in his datacenter tonight (European night ;) ) which means our brave server, serving trans-n-porter.com, .net and .de is not reachable, too.
Until today our hoster really knew how to do his job so we think it will only last a few hours.

Kudos to the guys at Weewar Ltd. and Travian Games GmbH. Those teams are doing a fantastic job developing groundbreaking browser based games. That’s why they both really cleaned up at the Galaxy News Browser Game of the Year 2007 Awards.

Weewar received three awards for their game of the same title:
Weewar

  • Best Concept
  • Technical Achievement Award (Use of Technology)
  • Innovative Studio Award (Best Newcomer)

Travian Games received four awards for a game called Travians (Travianer in German):
Travians

  • Browser Game of the Year 2007
  • Technical Achievement Award (Use of Technology)
  • Best Gameplay
  • Best RPG

We really like both games, even if we rarely find time to play in the last couple of weeks. Congrats again and thuuuumbs up!

Hey,

it’s nearly Monday and still the blog does not look like it should do. The most annoying fact is, that the .de domain points to the .net domain and we can’t do anything about it, than wait for the change provider application be accepted by our “new” provider.

The reason for all this trouble is a mistake we made long ago as we registered the FEtMab Domains at two different providers - we tried to save money ;) . Together with the split of our blogs we would transfer all the domains to one provider. It seems as if we’ve timed this not very good and therefor now have this little blog chaos

But ok, we submitted the applications already and it just should be a matter of days until the new blog is finally online in German and English.

So long please stay tuned and forgive us the blog confusion.

Yours,

Thorben

Lots of cartons

Sorry guys, we’re currently splitting our old blog into two new ones.

From now on (ok… give us two more days ;) ) there is not one blog, covering technical and game related posts together, but two seperated blogs.

You can reach the technical blog at http://techlog.fetmab.net right now and we’re trying hard, to get the game blog online by monday, so that you can find an English and German version of it at http://blog.fetmab.com or http://blog.fetmab.de.

Please stay tuned and come back soon. The next weeks are going to be exciting, while Trans ‘n Porter rushes to it’s first beta release.

Yours,

Thorben
